Israel has many faces – Jewish, Arab, religious, secular, Masorti, Reform, elderly, young, poor, rich, immigrant, veteran, Mizrahi, Ashkenazi, and others. Although Israel has a strong democracy, there is still much to do to ensure that all of Israel’s citizens enjoy full equality of human, civil, social and political rights.

At this session, Ellen Goldberg, Executive Director of New Israel Fund (NIF), will present human rights stories behind the faces. NIF is the leading organisation advancing democratic and progressive change within Israel.

Ellen Goldberg has worked for New Israel Fund for 8 years, 6 of which in Israel, and as Executive Director in the UK since 2007. She has 20 years’ experience developing social and health services in Israel, especially for Israel’s immigrants, elderly and children at risk. Prior to that Ellen worked in the US with migrant farm workers and in the planning and evaluation of America’s social welfare programmes.
