Message from our Chief Executive, Adam Ognall

Our work and the issues we care about deeply have been hitting the headlines over the last month in Israel, the UK and the US.

Popular Opposition to Gender Segregation Mounts

The campaign to abolish gender separation in Israeli public places led by the NIF family continues apace.  A rally in Beit Shemesh organised by several organisations including NIF grantee Yisrael Hofshit (Free Israel), attracted thousands of protesters and received massive coverage in the Israeli and international media.

Jerusalem March Protests Escalating Racism Against Israeli-Ethiopians

Several thousand Israelis rallied near the Knesset to protest the first-ever formal attempt to prevent property being sold or rented to Ethiopian-Israelis. With support from NIF and SHATIL, the demonstration was organised by Ethiopians United - an ad-hoc Facebook group of young Israeli-Ethiopians.

Arab and Jewish Teenagers Participate in Arts Master-Class

Thirty-two Arab and Jewish students aged 15-18 from peripheral regions in Israel took part in a unique arts master-class in Tel Aviv. The five hour session, which involved some of Israel's leading artists in the fields of opera, music, dance and drama, was organised by leading soprano Yael Cherniavsky, with support from NIF.

"Your Grandfather Was a Refugee Too"

In response to the Illegal Migrants Bill, which allows asylum seekers to be imprisoned for three years and those assisting them for up to 15 years, NIF's Don't Remain Silent Campaign put a collage of MKs on its Facebook page.

100 attend NIF UK Israel Question Time

A good crowd packed into Belsize Square Synagogue for a lively discussion of issues relating to Israel including the peace process, democracy and our relationship with Israel as a Diaspora community.
