New Israel Fund announces appointment of Sir Trevor Chinn CVO to the Board of NIF UK
The Board of Trustees of NIF UK is delighted to welcome Sir Trevor Chinn CVO to the Board of NIF UK.
Sir Trevor’s long term commitment to the development and future of Israel, his outstanding record of leadership both within the Jewish and the wider business communities and his extensive charity work add considerable strength and experience to the organisation.
He joins NIF at an exciting time. 2012 was a record year for NIF in terms of both fundraising and our activities. We achieved a significant 22% increase in funds raised for NIF’s work and through our events and speaking engagements we reached over 3,000 people.
A record 450 people joined NIF for the annual Human Rights Awards Dinner at which Israeli writer and peace activist Amos Oz received a Lifetime Achievement Award, raising a substantial £260,000, a twofold increase on the previous year. Hundreds attended a Yom Ha’atzmaut performance of a new play “Can Two Walk Together” by playwright and novelist A.B. Yehoshua about a conversation between Ben Gurion and Jabotinsky.
Sir Trevor Chinn: “I am delighted to join the Board of NIF. NIF symbolises my deep commitment to Israel as the nation state of the Jewish people and to social justice for all its citizens.”
Nicholas Saphir, Chairman of NIF UK: “NIF has worked for 30 years in supporting a wide range of Israeli organisations working for the creation of a just and equal Israeli society."
Sir Trevor joins the Board at a time when British Jewry is increasingly recognising the importance of our work at this critical time in the formation of Israel’s future. We all look forward to working with him and those Israelis with whom we share values and a vision for the future of Israel.”
