Human Rights Awards Dinner 2017

We are delighted to invite you to our Human Rights Awards Dinner which will take place on Sunday 5 November 2017.

This year marks the 11th anniversary of our Awards and we are confident that this will be our most inspiring dinner to date.

As ever, the winners of our Human Rights Awards are at the heart of the New Israel Fund dinner. This year our selection panel has chosen to give the awards to the following two exceptional organisations:

Morashtenu works to bridge the gap between the 750,000-strong Russian-speaking community and the rest of Israeli society, fighting cultural barriers and ongoing issues of alienation. Whether through support groups for single mothers, or youth integration projects, Morashtenu helps to listen to, support and empower this community to find a real home and powerful voice in Israeli society. With its relevantinfo.co.il news website, Morashtenu also provides a liberal media voice for the Russian-speaking community, offering an alternative to the dominant and often ultra-right Russian press.

Yesh Din works within the Israeli legal system to defend human rights in the Occupied Palestinian Territories. The organisation holds a mirror up to the Israeli authorities and the Israeli public about life under Occupation, seeking justice and criminal redress on behalf of the Palestinian community in these areas.

These winners exemplify NIF’s commitment to building an Israeli society that is strong and cohesive, moral and responsible – a society that strives to protect human rights and democratic values.

In addition to our winners we are delighted that Israeli music icon and veteran peace activist David Broza will be joining us and playing live on the night. Since 1977, when his hit song “Yihiyeh Tov” (“Things Will Get Better”) was first released, David Broza has been working to promote a message of peace. Broza’s presence is testament to both his close relationship with NIF and to our joint commitment to working towards a truly shared society in Israel.
