Fundraising Manager (Operations)

Working Hours:     35 hours per week

Salary:                    £25,000-£29,000 (depending on experience)

Reporting To:        Chief Executive

Location:                NIF Offices, Enford Street, London W1H 1DW


Position Overview

This new position is being created to help NIF build on a period of growth. The post-holder will oversee NIF’s existing fundraising processes and help manage the improvement and growth of our fundraising activities. The successful candidate will have strong administrative and organisation skills with a background in fundraising, business development or similar.

Main Responsibilities

- Ensure accurate and timely processing and recording of donations

- Ensure donors are thanked appropriately and database is kept up-to-date

- Oversee planned improvements in our fundraising procedures and systems

- Implement our Jewish festival print appeals and other community fundraising

- Support the CEO and trustees in our major donor fundraising (e.g. by preparing proposals and background briefings)

- Monitor fundraising targets and provide timely fundraising reports

- Ensure reporting for trusts, foundations and major supporters is completed within deadlines

- Research and develop new avenues of fundraising

- Assist in the production of our fundraising and educational events

- Contribute to the effective running of the organisation


Person Specification


- Affinity with the values and work of New Israel Fund

- Highly organised, methodical with attention to detail

- Self-starter - ability to initiate and finish projects, work to deadlines and manage a variety of tasks

- Friendly and approachable, with the ability to interact appropriately with different audiences

- Ability to problem solve and think strategically

- Ability to take ‘ownership’ of key responsibilities and the resultant outputs

Essential Skills and Experience

- Experience of working in a fundraising environment (or similar)

- Proven experience of using a fundraising database (ideally Raiser’s Edge)

- Strong administrative skills

- Excellent IT and data management skills

- Proven written and verbal communication skills  in communicating with different audiences (e.g. donors, trustees, colleagues)

- Experience of managing suppliers

- Working in fundraising environment (or similar)


- Experience of working in Jewish community

- Degree level education or equivalent

- Experience of managing staff members or volunteers/interns

- Successful experience of working in a small team

- Experience of working with a board and/or senior management

Management and Support for post-holder

The post-holder will be line-managed by and work closely with NIF’s Chief Executive. A detailed induction process will be undertaken at the beginning of this job.  The training and career development of the post-holder will be discussed as part of their induction.
