New Israel Fund - Mixed Cities - Akko Riots

The violent confrontations between the Jewish and Arab communities of Akko have highlighted the need for measures which will enhance coexistence. Clashes began after an Arab driver was attacked for driving through a Jewish neighbourhood on Yom Kippur and escalated into several days of civic unrest.

Jerusalem High-Rise Towers Scrapped After Greens Protest

The National Planning Council has scrapped a plan to build high-rise apartment buildings  in Jerusalem’s Har Nof neighbourhood following a three-year campaign by Shomera, an organisation of Orthodox Jewish environmental activists supported by New Israel Fund (NIF) through the Green Environment Fund (GEF). SHATIL Disabilities Training Results in Society-Changing Initiatives

SHATIL's new focus on the rights of the disabled has led to the creation of projects that improve the lives of people with special needs.   The projects are initiated by newly-trained activists as part of their SHATIL course requirements.

Not Another Gedalia, Not Another Rabin

More than 200 people attended a protest rally in October outside of Prof. Ze’ev Sternhell's home in Jerusalem to demonstrate solidarity with the Hebrew University professor who was the target of an assassination attempt last month. The protest, organised by New Israel Fund (NIF), also expressed support for freedom of expression and democracy.
